Ice fishing trip

An unforgettable day with local guide on a fishing trip from the shore of Vuokatinmaa. Experience traditional fishing on an ice fishing trip that combines the tranquility of nature, the excitement of fishing, and the magic of winter! We fish using fishing rods and worms. In Finnish, the rod is called a “pilkki.”

Ice fishing with rod & worm, the most common catch is perch, but with good skill or luck, you might also catch pike-perch. Traditionally, we practice ice drilling, which also requires skill to set up the fishing lures.

For the trip, we will either travel in a sled pulled by a snowmobile or hike with snowshoes to the fishing spots from the shores of Vuokatinmaa. During the program, we will enjoy trail snacks and hot drinks by the campfire.

If we’re fortunate enough to catch some fish, there may even be the chance to prepare at your cabin or by one of the campfire spots, creating a true sense of connection with nature.
This is a perfect adventure for those looking to combine the thrill of winter sports with the joy of fishing and the beauty of the winter outdoors.

What will you need to bring? Clothing / equipment recommended:

Please remember to dress warmly according to the weather. We recommend you to wear warm and comfortable extra clothes (e.g. underwear, socks, in multiple layers). Also, make sure to wear waterproof and warm boots suitable for winter conditions to keep your feet dry and comfortable throughout the trip. If you need any equipment, please make sure to reserve it separately!
